PARENTS,FOSTER PARENTS & CAREGIVERS:
EMPOWERMENT CAN HAPPEN!
It started with a few minor changes: you noticed they were waking up in the night, you started getting phone calls from school, your child was isolating themselves more. When you tried to help, it seemed to just make things worse. Replies like, “YOU JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND! LEAVE ME ALONE!” are common parlance in your household. You tried giving them more attention, taking them to the pediatrician and talking with the school teacher. You heard a different story from everyone, “it’s just a phase,” or “it’s ADHD.” Year after year, the problem compounds. You have tried medication, incentives, punishments and nothing seems to work. At work, you are holding your breath waiting to get a call. It’s another fight and you are worried about safety in your home. The kids are all effected by it, and your partner is too.
It is difficult witnessing a child struggling and not knowing what to do. I specialize in working with children and families who have at least one child with special needs who is dealing with multiple systems AND multiple emotions.
Whatever the challenges is, I can give you practical strategies to help you and the child of concern recover. I use techniques to build self-esteem and relationships, improve communication skills, increase energy, improve concentration and ultimately heal and thrive. I love my work with children and families and would be delighted to work with you!
